UK Junior has already surpassed 1998 volleyball totals in six statistical categories.

Kentucky junior Megan Weiskircher was rewarded for two stellar performancesthis past weekend at Clemson, S.C. by being the only Wildcat to earn a place onthe Big Orange Bash All-Tournament team. UK was 0-2 at the tournament as theteam lost its first matches of the season and heads into its next match with a4-2 record.

In UK’s Sept. 10 loss to No. 18 Clemson, Weiskircher led the Cats with a .263hitting percentage, six kills and only one error on 19 attacks. TheHouston-native added five digs, one block solo and three block assists. Theintense net play of Weiskircher allowed the Cats to counter the potent Tigerattack in a close three game victory by Clemson.

Weiskircher was even better in the 3-0 loss to No. 30 Notre Dame with a .353hitting percentage (8-2-17), 10 digs, a block solo and five block assists.

After taking a step back in her sophomore season, Weiskircher is demonstratinga resurgence in 1999 as she has already, after only two weeks, surpassed her1998 totals in kills, total attacks, service aces, digs, block solos and blockassists. Currently, Weiskircher is among the team leaders in kills (3rd),attacks (3rd) and block solos, block assists and total blocks (1st).

Weiskircher and the Cats will look to get back in the win column on Sept. 14when they host the Lady Toppers of Western Kentucky in Memorial Coliseum at 7p.m. The game marks the first “Two for Tuesday” promotion of the season wheretwo fans get in for the price of one.
