LEXINGTON, Ky. – Michael Pallares, a native of New Jersey, upset the No. 1 tournament seed Indiana’s Matt Behrmann in the USTA Boys’ 18 Interscholastic Championships 7-6(3), 7-6(5), at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center, Sunday.
Trevor Smith, a native of S.C., fought for the third place spot by beating Ohio’s Eric Pittman in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
Matt Emery, son of UK tennis coach Dennis Emery, and doubles partner Johnny Murray upset the No. 1 doubles seed Eric Pittman/Mario Contardi 6-4, 7-5, in the USTA Boys’ 18 Interscholastic tournament semifinals. Emery/Murray fell to the duo of Ashok Raju and Matt Behrmann in championship final on Saturday evening in a three set grudge match 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
