Men's Soccer

The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team fell 5-0 to No.1 Indiana at the UK Soccer Complex on Wednesday.

A season-high 1,438 fans packed the Complex on the cold and rainy night to see the battle and were left awestruck by the mighty Hoosiers. Indiana’s balanced attack reeked havoc on the UK defense as Dema Kovalenko, Ryan Mack, Lazo Alavanja, Aleksy Korol and Eric Riply all scored goals for IU.

The Wildcats fought valiantly, but were unable to get a shot past IU goalkeeper T.J. Hannig. Hannig has allowed only four goals on the season and lowered his NCAA-leading goals-against average to a miniscule 0.27. The top-ranked Hoosiers now move to 14-1, while UK drops to 7-8. The Wildcats take to the pitch again on Friday, when they travel to Ypsilanti, Mich., to face Eastern Michigan at 2 p.m.
