PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Two University of Kentucky women’s tennis team members are headed west to the All-American Championships at the Riviera Country Club.
Massoumeh Emami and Kelly Brown, the nation’s sixth-ranked doubles team, are entered into the tournament’s main draw and will take the court on Wednesday.
The duo will face stiff competition at the event, as the nation’s top nine tandems are participating in the 16-team tournament.
Emami, ranked 76th in the ITA preseason poll, will also battle in singles competition and begins qualifying singles on Tuesday.
The event is one of four tournaments that comprise the ITA Collegiate Grand Slam and is known for its high level of competition.
UK coach Mark Guilbeau said, “This tournament features a very strong field of players. It’s a great opportunity for Kelly and Massoumeh to face some outstanding competition. Just to make the main draw is a huge accomplishment for our program.”
