Xavier pounded 17 hits, including a grand slam by Jim Dallio in the sixth inning, en route to a 11-5 victory over Kentucky Wednesday night at Cliff Hagan Stadium on the UK campus.

UK (12-17) lost despite 13 hits and two home runs. The Wildcats left 14 runners on base. Dallio connected on a pitch off UK reliever David Cheatle to right-center field.

Xavier (15-15) got out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning thanks to a two-run single by Zach Swisher. Swisher went 5-for-6 with three RBIs and a run scored. Chris Kirkby added an RBI single in the inning. UK responded in the second inning, cutting the lead to 3-2. Senior Jason Colemire, who extended his hitting streak to eight games, led off with a wind-aided home run to left field. Mark Murphy followed with a single and scored when Justin Bunch singled and advanced to second on a Xavier error, cutting the deficit to 3-2. UK
