CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The 13th-ranked University of Kentucky men’s tennis teamclosed out the regular season with a bang as the Wildcats upset No. 2Illinois, 4-3, on Sunday in Champaign.

Illinois (20-3, 8-0 Big Ten) was up 1-0 after winning all three doublesmatches. But UK (14-8, 6-5 Southeastern Conference) then won four singlesmatches to earn the victory. Freshman Johan Grunditz clinched the matchwith a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over Arnaud Lantin.

The Cats next see action at the SEC Tournament in Gainesville, Fla. UKfaces Arkansas at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
