LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team edged Cincinnati 2-1 in overtime on Friday at the UK Soccer Complex.

Katie Erdei gave the Cats an early 1-0 lead, scoring off a Carrie Staber cross in the 19th minute.

The Wildcats held the 1-0 advantage until Tina Matlock of Cincinnati (5-6-1) found the net in the 47th minute to tie the score at 1-1. The game appeared headed for a second overtime, but with only 2:58 left in the opening OT, UK’s Jaime Dellbringge found the net to give UK the 2-1 win.

With the victory, UK improves 4-5-2, 2-2 in the SEC.

UK returns to action on Tuesday, when the Wildcats travel to Evansville, Ind., to battle the UE Purple Aces at 7 p.m.
