LEXINGTON, Ky. – Five members of the University of Kentucky softball team have been named tothe 1999 SEC Softball Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Roy Kramerannounced Monday.
Juniors Michelle Bucci, Keary Camunas, and Sarah Snider along withsophomores Tiffany Kruse and Leslie Kwiatkowski were honored by the SEC fortheir hard work in the classroom.
Bucci, a native of Granger, Ind., is majoring in Kinesiology and is a 1999GTE Academic All-American nominee. In the fall of 1998, Bucci was named tothe Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for having the highest GPA on thesoftball team.
Camunas is a Kinesiology major from Lake Forest, Calif., and was UK’s toppitcher this season.
Snider, a native of Louisville, Ky., is a Marketing major and has been amember of the UK softball team since its inception in 1997.
An Art Education major from Columbus, Ohio, Kruse led the Wildcats thisseason with five triples and was second on the team with a .346 battingaverage.
Kwiatkowski, a native of South Bend, Ind., is an Accounting major and ledUK at the plate this season. Kwiatkowski broke ten, single-season UKrecords this season.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 gradepoint average or higher for the past year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.0or higher, be a sophomore or higher in terms of academic classification and24 hours toward a degree.
