LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats’ baseball team (22-28) will play host to the Murray State Thoroughbreds (28-22-1) and the Butler Bulldogs (26-24) on Wed., May 12, in the final two home games of the season at Cliff Hagan Stadium. The games will begin at 12 noon and 6 p.m., respectively.

The Wildcats and the Thoroughbreds have met 37 times with Murray holding a 34-3 advantage. Coach Keith Madison holds a 3-2 lifetime record against Murray. Kentucky defeated MSU last season, 20-3, in Lexington.

Freshman Aaron Wilson will take the mound for the Wildcats. The Evansville, Ind., native will be making his fifth start of the season, and is currently 1-2 with a 4.95 ERA. He took the loss in the Wildcats’ 17-inning game against Cincinnati in his last outing.

The second game of the evening features UK and Butler in only the third meeting between the schools. Kentucky holds a 2-0 advantage and Madison is 1-0 lifetime against the Bulldogs. The schools have not squared off since the 1990 season, and UK won, 5-0.

Junior Patrick Mahan will make his first start of the season for Kentucky. He has appeared in three games this season, pitching three impressive relief innings against Arkansas in Fayetteville on April 10.

Sophomore John Wilson and junior Aaron McGlone are currently first and second on the SEC list for home runs. Wilson has 20 on the season and McGlone belted his 16th on Friday against Auburn. Wilson is only three shy of tying Jeff Abbott’s season home run record of 23, set in 1994.
