LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Day three of the USTA/ITA Men’s National Team Indoor Intercollegiate Championships saw Kentucky fall to Southern California 5-2 Saturday.

UK’s senior Cedric Kauffmann, ranked sixth in the country, won the match at No. 1 when USC’s George Bastl retired due to sickness in the first set.

At the No. 5 spot, senior Dan Spaner defeated USC’s Christoph Poehler 7-6(4), 6-4.

Top-ranked Stanford and No. 15 Illinois are the contenders in the championship final on Sunday at 1 p.m. Stanford (9-0) defeated No. 3 Georgia 4-1 in the semifinals with an impressive show at No. 2 by Georgia’s Steve Baldas over Stanford’s Bob Bryan 6-1, 6-3.
