The Kentucky baseball team (8-16, 2-7 SEC) will play host to the GeorgiaBulldogs (14-13, 2-6 SEC) in a three-game series beginning Friday, April 2,at 6 p.m. at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Friday’s matchup will mark the 172nd meeting between the two schools.Georgia leads the series 97-73-1. The two schools met last season inAthens, Ga., and UK won two-of-three games. The 1998 series was crucial forthe Wildcats as they were in the midst of earning a berth in the SECTournament.

Kentucky enters this weekend’s conference action having defeated XavierUniversity in Cincinnati on Wednesday. Freshman Vince Harrison, aCincinnati native, recorded his first collegiate home run in front of hishometown crowd.

The Wildcats’ bats have been hot for individual players in the middle ofthe season. Sophomore John Wilson has hit four home runs in the previousfive games and carries a 12-game hitting streak into the weekend. JuniorBreck Price has reached base safely in the 17 of the last 18 games andfreshman Kyle Hooker has recorded a hit in seven of the last eight games.

Junior Ben Shaffar will take the mound Friday for the Wildcats. Shaffarenters the game with 59 strikeouts in 42.2 innings pitched and picked upthe win in last Friday’s victory over Mississippi State.
