MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Kentucky’s bats came to life as the Wildcats (2-6)defeated Minnesota (5-4) in the second game of the Blue-Gray Classic.

The Golden Gophers scored three runs in the top of the first inning butcould not maintain their lead as UK evened the score in the bottom of thefirst.

Kentucky exploded for six runs in the second inning that began with aJason Wolfe three-run homerun to score Breck Price and John Wilson. KyleHooker drove in the first of his three RBIs on a clutch double to rightfield. Hooker and Beau Moore also scored in the inning on Taylor McInnis’double.

Minnesota answered with three runs in the third after a lead-off walk tothird baseman Matt Scanlon and a double by pitcher Aron Amundson put men onsecond and third with no outs. First baseman Adam Horton drove in Scanlonand Amundson with a RBI single and he later scored on a RBI ground out byrightfielder Jason Kennedy.

Kentucky never looked back despite giving up six runs in the third. Firstbaseman John Wilson finished the day four for five, including hitting hissecond homerun in as many days. Catcher Jason Wolfe had five RBIs in thegame. Pitcher Brandon Webb started for the Wildcats and reliever JoshPaxton picked up the win, his first on the season. Junior Breck Priceearned his first save of the as a Kentucky Wildcat.

Kentucky will face host Troy State in the final game of the Blue-GrayClassic Sunday, February 28, at 3:00.
