LEXINGTON, Kty. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team travels to Athens, Ga. for the 1998 SEC Championships April 17-19 at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
Competitors for UK are seniors Ryan Loghry and Mike Cassity, junior Chris Mueller and sophomores Wes Furnish and Ron Layman.
The University of Georgia Golf Course is Par 72, 6,874 -yard course. The tournament is divided into three days with 18 holes played each day. Kentucky is scheduled to begin round one at 10:30 a.m. ET on Friday.
Four-SEC teams enter the championships ranked among the nations’ top 11 teams by the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings. Georgia (8th), Florida (9th), Arkansas (10th) and South Carolina (11th) will lead the pack of conference teams vying for the league’s title.

Three Seniors Make SEC Honor Roll
A total of three student-athletes from the University of Kentucky men’s golf team were named to the 1998 SEC Men’s Golf Academic Honor Roll Wednesday.
Ryan Loghry maintains a 3.811 grade point average (gpa) and majors in Finance. This is Loghry’s third recognition for the honor roll. He is currently the Student Advisory Committee Representative for the men’s golf team.
Mike Cassity has a 3.63 gpa in Management. Cassity has been named to the honor roll his sophomore thru senior years.
Senior Jeremy Langley receives his first recognition to the SEC honor roll this year with a 3.00 gpa in Finance.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must: 1) have a 3.0 gpa for either the past year or for his career; 2) be a sophomore or higher in academic classification; and 3) have 24 semester or 26 quarter hours countable toward a degree.
