BOCA RATON, Fla. – The UK baseball team (0-1, 0-0 SEC) struggled early inits season opener against Florida Atlantic (4-0) on Friday, Feb. 12. TheCats gave up seven runs in the first inning en route to an 18-2 loss.

The Owls pounded out 13 hits in eight innings, while Kentucky struggled atthe plate, recording only four hits on the night. FAU’s Todd Moser went 6.2innings, striking out eight.

Both of Kentucky’s runs came in the seventh, as junior Breck Price smackeda double to lead off the inning. Sophomore John Wilson drove in Price withan RBI triple and later scored on a passed ball.

FAU connected for six runs in the bottom of the seventh. UK’s PatrickMahan faced twelve batters in two innings, giving up seven earned runs onseven hits.

The Wildcats face FAU in game two of the series tomorrow, Feb. 13, at noon.
