Lexington, Ky.-The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will playhost to Liberty University on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. in MemorialColiseum.

The Wildcats (7-1, 1-0), who are off to their best start since the 1984-85season, have never met the Lady Flames, but hope to extend their home winstreak to seven. Last season, Liberty and Tennessee made history bybecoming the first two undefeated teams to meet in the first round of theNCAA Tournament. Liberty finished with a 28-1 record after dropping to thetop-ranked Lady Vols, 102-58.

The Lady Flames currently hold a 4-3 record, losing to Virginia, VirginiaTech and Campbell early in the season. LU is coached by Rick Reeves whoenters his ninth year at Liberty.

The Cats look for their eighth win with the help of senior starter JayeBarnes. She leads the team in scoring (14.2 points per game) and is secondon the team in rebounding. Also averaging double digits this season issophomore Laura Meadows (12.9 ppg), and juniors Erica Jackson (11.5 ppg)and Tiffany Wait (11.5 ppg).

Saturday’s game marks the last home game for the Cats until Dec. 28 whenthey play host to Cincinnati at 7 p.m. UK will travel to the Wichita StateShocker Shootout on Dec. 19-20 in Wichita, Kan.

Note: Five members of the Kentucky Thoroughblades hockey team will besigning autographs at Saturday’s game. Also the first 1,000 UK fans willreceive women’s basketball schedule magnets.
