LEXINGTON, Kentucky – The Johnny Owens Men’s Golf Invitational is set to tee off its first round of play Friday 8:00 a.m. at the Kearney Hill Golf Links with its second round beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The Wildcats are looking to win their fourth team title and third individual crown at their lone home tournament of the year. UK last claimed the team top spot in 1989, while former Wildcat Grover Justice claimed UK’s latest individual title in 1995.

Toledo ran away from the field at the 1997 Johnny Owens Invitational with its three-round total of 876. Maarten Van den Berg claimed the individual crown for Miami (Ohio).

Toledo is set to defend its first Johnny Owens title against some tough competition as the field includes Akron, Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Iowa, Louisville, Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Michigan State, Morehead State, Murray State, Notre Dame, Ohio, Purdue, Wright State, Xavier, Youngstown State, as well as host Kentucky.
