LEXINGTON – Toledo continued to dominate the field to claim their second consecutive Johnny Owens Invitational title Saturday at Kearney Hill Golf Links.

The Rockets finished with a team total of 871, 14 strokes ahead of second-place Notre Dame. All five Toledo golfers recorded top-15 finishes. Kyle Voska of Miami (Ohio) fought off a rallying field to claim medalist honors, after tallying a six-under-par 210 for the tournament. This total broke the previous tournament record of 211, set by three previous champions.

Despite firing a final round of par-72, Kentucky’s Wes Furnish fell from fifth to tenth in the final days action. Furnish ended the tournament with a final tally of 221, to claim his third top-10 finish this year.

Fellow Wildcat Mike Cassity shot a three-over-par 75 to move up from 25th to 22nd place. Other UK scores include Ron Laymans 228, placing him 40th; Ryan Loghrys 236, placing him in 77th; and Jeremy Langleys 238, placing him in 83rd.
