ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team pulled out an overtime win against 23rd-ranked Georgia, 1-0, on Friday night. Although the Cats were outshot 26-7 in regulation, UK forward Carrie Staber scored the game-winning goal three and a half minutes into overtime to give the Cats the victory.
The loss drops Georgia to 8-4-1, 2-3 in the Southeastern Conference. The win gives UK a 6-5-2 record heading into Sunday’s contest against Tennessee. The Vols (8-6, 3-2 SEC) were defeated by No. 8 Vanderbilt, 1-0, in their last outing.
