LEXINGTON, Kty.-Ole Miss took advantage of six Kentucky errors and scored six runs in two different innings en route to a 21-8 victory Sunday at Cliff Hagan Stadium on the UK campus. The Rebels won two of three from the Wildcats in the series. It was the most runs scored against a Kentucky team in a regular-season game since April 30, 1989 when the Wildcats lost 28-16 to Mississippi State.

Ole Miss (14-7, 3-2) had its bats going early, taking a 7-3 lead after three innings. Jason Huisman sparked the early lead with a home run in his first two trips to the plate off UK starter Josh Paxton. The Wildcats had its only lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first. Jason Colemire nailed a double down the right field line and scored when Mark Murphy reached on an error. John Wilson added a sacrifice fly in the inning.

Ole Miss came back in the third and put six runs on the board with four hits, including a three-run homer by Michael Rosamond. The Wildcats clawed back in the fifth with three runs, trimming the deficit to 10-7. Andy Green had an RBI single and senior David Cheatle hit a two-run homer, his second of the season.

UK (7-10, 2-4) would get no closer as the Rebels outscored them 11-1 in the final four innings. UK used six different pitchers in the contest. Starter Josh Paxton (1-2) allowed eight hits and nine runs, seven of which were earned, in 3.1 innings of work. Ryan Bukvich (3-0) remained unbeaten, allowing seven runs and nine hits in 5.0 innings of work. Dan McShea picked up the save in four innings of relief.

Colemire went 2-for-5 with two doubles, extending his hitting streak to 17 games. Colemire has a double in five consecutive games. Junior Josh Loggins had three hits, extending his hitting streak to a season-high eight games. Cheatle and Aaron McGlone had two hits apiece. UK continues its five-game homestand on Tuesday with a non-conference game against Marshall at 3 p.m.
