LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky softball team will travel to Dayton, Ohio onTuesday afternoon to square off against the Dayton Flyers in a scheduleddoubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
UK (18-28, 3-9 SEC) is coming off a four-game series this weekend againstSoutheastern Conference foe Georgia. The Bulldogs took three out of fourgames against the Wildcats.
Tiffany Kruse blistered UGA with her hot hitting. The sophomoreoutfielder went a combined 6-6 in the two games Friday, which tied the SECmark for consecutive hits. For the weekend, Kruse went 8-12 to boost herbatting average to .407 leading the Cats. She leads UK in hits (29),triples (5), and total bases (80). She is tied for the team lead indoubles with eight and RBIs with 29.
Shortstop Angie Dal Pozzo has also been a big contributor lately. Thefreshman went 4-11 against in the four games against Georgia, three ofwhich were extra base hits. She is tied for the team lead in doubles witheight and is second in triples with three.
Dayton (15-21) defeated St. Bonaventure in two games on Saturday, 5-0 and2-0.
The Flyers are led by first baseman Tanya Leet. The junior is hitting.353 with 36 hits, nine doubles, and twelve RBI. In Dayton’s pitchingstable, three Flyers have started seven or more games.
UK leads the all-time series with Dayton, 4-2. Last year, UK took two outof three games against the Flyers.
