ATHENS, Ga.– University of Kentucky men’s golf sophomore Wes Furnish jumped 25 spots to tie for 23rd place, firing a 70, in day two of the SEC Men’s Golf Championships Saturday.
After Friday’s first 18-hole round, Furnish was tied for 48th place out of 60 golfers with a score of 77. Furnish tied his season low score of 70 at EKU’s Colonel Classic last September.
Seniors Mike Cassity, tied for 39th, and Ryan Loghry, tied for 44th, also moved up when they both fired a 74 in the second round. Kentucky maintains its 11th place position in the SEC Tournament with an overall score of 603 after two rounds.
The University of Georgia Golf Course is Par 72, 6,874 -yard course. The tournament is divided into three days with 18 holes played each day. The SEC Championships will wrap up on Sunday with round three of play.
