GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Kentucky Lady Cats golf team finished the first day ofthe Bryan National Collegiate tied with New Mexico State in eighth place.The team shot a 327 in the first round.

Freshman Towa Okiyama is currently in ninth place, tied with five othergolfers. She hit a 5-over-par 77 in the first round of the tournament.Junior Jenny Dugan tied for 22nd place after the first round of thetournament, hitting a 7-over-par 79.

Other Lady Cat scores include junior Chanda Day’s 13-over-par, sophomoreJenny Throgmorton’s 14-over-par 86 and freshman Kristen Pepe’s 15-over-par87. They are currently tied for 44th, 50th and 52nd place, respectively.

Furman University and the University of Washington are currently tied forfirst place, and Furman’s Lindsay Smith is in first place after firing a1-over-par 73 in the first round.

The second day of the tournament will begin at 8:30 Saturday morning.
