DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team opened its season in style Saturday, defeating Wright State 3-0. All-SEC candidate Carrie Staber tallied two goals and was joined in the scoring column by sophomore midfielder Jen Reese. The Cats posted a 16-4 shot advantage over Wright State.

Goalkeepers Beth Wells and Carrie Kuhnell combined on the shutout for the Cats.

Coach Warren Lipka said, “It was a good step in the right direction, but we still have some skills to sharpen. But for this early in the season, it was a good showing.”
