The University of Kentucky softball team opens the 1998 home on Tuesday, as the Wildcats play host to Dayton at the UK Softball Stadium. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the second game set to follow at approximately 4 p.m.

UK (5-10) is coming off a 1-4 performance at the Southern Illinois Southern Classic, defeating eventual tournament champion Northern Illinois.

The Wildcats are led at the plate by freshman Leslie Kwiatkowski’s .340 batting average and five extra-base hits. Sophomore Lindsay Houser has also been hot at the plate, as the third baseman has had a hit in UK’s last five games en route to a .279 batting average.

Kentucky holds a 2-1 all-time series advantage over Dayton. The teams split an April doubleheader last season – the first game a 4-1 Dayton win and the second a 5-2 UK victory – after UK picked up a 4-2 win at the Eastern Kentucky tournament last March.
