The Kentucky mens cross country beat Louisville today, while losing to Eastern Kentucky in their first meet of the season at the Woodford Trials. The womens team lost to both Louisville and Eastern Kentucky. In the double dual meet, Eastern Kentucky had the top five runners and finished with a team total of 15 points. Kentucky finished with 44 points. Against Louisville, the Wildcats scored 25 team points, finishing eight points ahead of the Cardinals.
In the womens race, UK freshman Jennifer Kehoe led the pack in the womens race, but it wasnt enough, as the Wildcats fell to the Colonels and Cardinals. Against Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky scored 43 team points, while the Colonels earned 20 team points. Facing Louisville, the Cardinals edged Kentucky by three points, finishing with 26. Top UK mens finishers were senior Cort Neal, with a time of 16:40.1, and freshman Donnie McCammon, with a time of 16:55.8. In the womens run, UKs top finishers were Kehoe, with a time of 11:55.6, and sophomore Missy Belcher, with a time of 12:53.8.
The Wildcats next meet will be in Bowling Green at the Old Timers Classic on September 19.
