LEXINGTON, Kty. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team signed four student-athletes in the fall signing period. Two players, Carolina Mayorga and Lauren Rookledge, will join the team in January, and two others, Jill Buckley and Sarah Witten, will begin play next fall. Mayorga, from Bogota, Columbia, is an accomplished junior competitor, having won the 1994 South American Junior Championship in singles. Rookledge hails from Cape Town, South Africa, and is a member of the South African Under-18 National Team.

Whitten, from Naples, Fla., is ranked 53rd in the USTA 18s, and has several wins over players in the top 20. Buckley arrives from Oak Ridge, Tenn., and is solid in singles and doubles, boasting a No. 82 singles ranking in the USTA 18s.

UK head coach Mark Guilbeau said, “These girls will help us keep our program at an elite level nationally. We are very fortunate to have these ladies join our squad.”
