The University of Kentucky softball team (11-19) will play host to EasternKentucky (9-9) on Wednesday at the UK Soccer-Softball Complex.
The doubleheader is scheduled for 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.
UK is led by sophomore outfielders Tiffany Kruse and Leslie Kwiatkowski.Kruse is batting .402 and recorded 39 hits and 22 RBIs, all of which areteam highs. In UK’s 9-0 win over Samford last Saturday, Kruse hit her firstcollegiate home run, a grand slam to right centerfield.
Kwiatkowski has been on a tear in her last nine games. During that span,the native of South Bend, Ind. went 11-26 at the plate with three doubles,two home runs and scored seven runs. She has raised her batting average to.367 with four home runs and six doubles.
Pitcher Keary Camunas has won two out of her last three starts.
“I think it’s always exciting to play an in-state team and we’ve had quitea rivalry with EKU in the past,” UK Head Coach Beth Kirchner said. “We’vehad some really quality games and so we’re anticipating a good one tomorrow.”
Last year, the Colonels won all three games against the Wildcats.UK will begin SEC play on Friday when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. totake on the Alabama Crimson Tide in a doubleheader.
