WR Garry Davis

On how he found out about UK’s bowl bid

“Gordon [Crowe] and I were talking about it all day yesterday. We came over to the football offices about 10 times trying to find someone who knew where we were going. When we found out, we ran out of our apartment screaming and telling everybody we saw. We were telling people we didn’t even know.”

On playing New Year’s Day

“It’s more prestigious. That was our goal and anytime you can accomplish a goal, it’s important to everyone.”

On going to a bowl game
“We’re going to be excited, but we want to win this game. After all this hard work, we don’t just want to go to a bowl game. We want to win the thing.”

On Penn State

“They’re always really good on defense. On offense, they run the ball a lot. Their defense has always been their strength. That will be a big challenge for us.”

DT Gordon Crowe

On going to a bowl game

“I’ve been looking forward to going to any bowl game since I came to college. Now, we’re going to play on New Year’s day against a great team.”

“All of our hard work this year has paid off. We started off wearing those 1/1/99′ shirts in January and we wore them all summer. It’s a great accomplishment.”

On what the bowl game means to the state of Kentucky

“We haven’t been to a bowl game since 1993, so the state has just been waiting around for it to happen. Now we’re playing in a pretty big bowl on New Year’s Day. It’s great for the fans. If we didn’t have great fans, we wouldn’t be going to the Outback Bowl.”

OT Kris Comstock

On playing Penn State

“It will be a great experience because they represent history and tradition in college football. It’s going to be exciting to play a team outside the SEC and see how we match up against them.”

On going to a bowl game
“I’ve been here for five years. I came in as an 18-year-old freshman and now I’m a 23-year-old senior. It’s a great reward to finally go to a bowl game.”

On going to Tampa

“We’re very fortunate to get this bowl bid. We play in one of the toughest conferences in the nation. Our four losses were to teams that had a combined seven losses. Playing that type of competition is what gets you to a bowl game.”
