COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of Kentucky volleyball team extended its season-high losing streak to four matches on Sunday, when they lost to the Lady Gamecocks of South Carolina in four games, 6-15, 5-15, 15-9, 5-15. USC took game one after starting the set with a 7-1 run.

The offensive struggles continued in game two, as the Lady Gamecocks pushed out to an 8-0 lead. The Wildcats could not recover and USC took game two by a score of 15-5. Kentucky battled back in the third game and posted a 5-0 run to take the game from USC. UK continued to struggle, though, and the Lady Gamecocks handed the Wildcats their fourth straight SEC loss.

The Wildcats (15-11, 6-7 SEC) were led by senior LaTanya Webb with 14 kills, seven digs and two block assists. Junior Katie Eiserman posted 12 kills and five digs on the night, while senior Jenny Muzzey tallied six kills and three block assists in the loss.

USC (20-5, 8-4 SEC) was led by a pair of freshmen in Milica Perovic and Cally Plummer. Perovic posted 17 kills, eight digs and a .414 hitting percentage against Kentucky. Plummer racked up 11 kills, six digs and six service aces in the victory.

The Wildcats will return to action on Wed., Nov. 11, when they travel to Louisville to take on the No. 25 Cardinals. Kentucky returns home on Sat., Nov. 14, to honor seniors LaTanya Webb and Jenny Muzzey in their final regular season match against the No. 6 Florida Gators in UK’s Memorial Coliseum at 7 p.m.
