Cats bring home first road victory of season.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (October 25, 1998) — The University of Kentucky rifle team brought homeits first road win Saturday with a victory against Jacksonville State. The Catstopped the Gamecocks 6149-6122 in the duel meet.

Kentucky outscored Jacksonville State 4615-4602 in smallbore and1534-1520 in air rifle.

UK senior Mary Elsass won both the air rifle and smallbore competitionswith a 391 and an 1166, respectively. Kentucky freshman Garth LoBelloposted a personal best 352 in air rifle action.

“Overall, I feel the team did a great job of staying focused and theirperformances are starting to get better,” Coach Harry Mullins said. “Wehave three weeks to improve on our weak points and increase our strengthsto the point of winning the Walsch Invitational and the Alaska match.”

The Cats are back in action on November 20th, when they head toCincinnati, Ohio for the Walsch Invitational.
