LEXINGTON, Kty. – The Kentucky football team battled the wind and rain during the first half of practice on Wednesday before moving to the indoor facility at Nutter Fieldhouse. The UK offensive team also had to battle a much improved defensive unit as defensive coordinator Mike Major has been very pleased with his squad’s improvement.
“We are so much more aggressive this year and we have a lot more speed,” Major said. “Those were two things we wanted to improve on and I feel we’ve done that. A few guys who will turn some heads this season are Marlon McCree (linebacker), Jeremy Bowie (cornerback) and Marvin Love (cornerback). They are all running well and are making big plays.”
“The defensive guys have really improved this spring,” UK wide receiver Craig Yeast said. “They are so quick and now they have so many different looks that it makes us work twice as hard to get the ball.”
The Wildcats’ last practice this week will be Friday, April 10 at 2:20 p.m. at the Nutter Training Center. The team’s next scrimmage is Saturday at 11 a.m. at Commonwealth Stadium. The Blue/White Spring Game, which is the conclusion of spring practice, will be Saturday, April 25 at 7 p.m.
