Movin’ On Up: Three persons associated with the Kentucky football program are making advancements in their professions and are moving on to other schools.

Graduate assistant coach Sonny Dykes, who helped coach the Wildcats tight ends and special teams, has landed a full-time assistant coach’s job at Northeast Louisiana on the staff of Coach Ed Zaunbrecher. Dykes will coach the receivers for the Indians.

Assistant strength coach Aaron Shelley has accepted the head strength coach position at Nevada-Reno. Shelley spent the 1995-97 football seasons at UK and will be moving to Reno next week.

“Aaron has done a tremendous job and I hate to see him leave,” said Wildcats head strength coach Rob Oviatt. “However, this is a great opportunity for Aaron and I’m very happy for him.”

Chris Hooley, a part-time assistant with the UK video crew, has acquired a full-time position on the video staff at the University of Houston.

“We appreciate the contributions that Sonny, Aaron, and Chris have made to our program,” said UK head coach Hal Mumme. “We wish them the best as they advance in their careers.”
