Final NCAA Statistics Released; UK Second in the Nation in Passing: Kentucky finished second in the nation in passing offense with 365.4 yards per game. The Wildcats were sixth nationally in total offense with 474 yards per game. UK averaged 11.8 yards per punt return, placing 18th in the nation in that category. UK was 26th nationally in scoring offense with 31.6 points per game.

Couch Led Nation in Passing Yardage: Sophomore quarterback Tim Couch led the nation in passing yardage (3,884). Couch also led the nation in touchdown passes per game (3.36 TDs per game). Couch was second in total touchdown passes with 37, but total TD leader Chad Pennington of Marshall threw 39 TDs with the benefit of a 12th game. Couch was second in total offense with 341.7 yards per game. Wide receiver Craig Yeast was tied for ninth in receptions per game with 6.6, based on his total of 73 receptions. Running back Anthony White was 29th in the nation in pass receptions per game with 5.4 on a total of 59 receptions. Strong safety Tremayne Martin was tied for 22nd in interceptions with five.

  • Total offense: 2nd, 474 yards per game
  • Passing offense: 1st, 365.4 yards per game
  • Scoring offense: 3rd, 31.6 points per game
  • Punt returns: 3rd, 11.8 yards per return
  • First downs: 1st, 25.6 first downs per game

  • Passing efficiency: Tim Couch 3rd, 141.4 rating points
  • Passing yardage: Tim Couch 1st, 3,884 yards
  • Completion percentage: Tim Couch 1st, 66.4 percent
  • Touchdown passes: Tim Couch 1st, 37
  • Receptions: Craig Yeast 2nd, 73
  • Touchdown receptions: Craig Yeast tied 2nd, 10
  • Receiving yards per game: Craig Yeast 3rd, 79.4
  • Total offense: Tim Couch 1st, 341.7 yards per game

Recruiting Process In Full Contact Period: The football recruiting process began the full contact period on Dec. 1. Coaches may visit the schools and homes of prospective student-athletes and the prospects will continue to make official visits to the University of Kentucky campus. A maximum of seven of UK’s 10 full-time coaches are permitted to participate in off-campus recruiting on any given day.

Players Doing Off-Season Workouts: The Wildcats football players are in their off-season weightlifting and conditioning program. The players work out four times each week under the guidance of strength coach Rob Oviatt.
