LEXINGTON, Ky. – Tim Couch passed for four touchdowns, including the 26-yardovertime game-winner to Craig Yeast, lifting Kentucky to a 40-34victory over number 20 Alabama, the first over its SoutheasternConference rival in 75 years.
The Wildcats (3-2, 1-2 SEC) snapped a 14-game losing streak andimproved to 2-31-1 against the Crimson Tide, who they lastdefeated in 1922.
Trailing 34-31 in the waning seconds, Alabama (3-2, 1-2) forgeda tie on the strength of Brian Cunningham’s 37-yard field goalwith eight seconds left in regulation.
After the Crimson Tide failed to capitalize on their overtimepossession, Couch rifled a 3rd-and-11 pass over the middle toYeast, who hauled it in and broke a tackle on his way to the endzone.
Couch completed 32-of-49 passes for 355 yards with threeinterceptions. He has 21 touchdowns in just five games andsurpassed the school record for completions in a season with164. He snapped Bill Ransdell’s record of 151 completions in1986.
