Opelika, Ala. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team is in 12th place after round one of the Tiger Invitational, shooting 19-over-par, 307 at the Grand National, Lake Course in Opelika, Ala. Play was shortened to just one round on Monday due to inclement weather in the area and the tournament will conclude with 36 holes on Tuesday beginning with a 9 a.m. ET shotgun start.
Sophomore Will Bishop fired the low round for the Wildcats with a 4-uner-par, 76. Bishop is tied for 37th overall after three birdies on the day.
Senior Chase Parker and junior Cody Martin and Stephen Powers all posted scores of 5-over-par, 77. Parker and Powers both sank two birdies on the afternoon, while Martin had a team-high four on Monday. The three are tied for 44th overall.
Junior Ben Stow shot a 6-over-par, 78 and is tied for 59th. Stow tallied two birdies on the day but the highlight of his round came on hole No. 12 where he sank an eagle on the par-5. Senior Joseph Barr, who is play as an individual, is tied for 79th.
The final 36 holes of the Tiger Invitational will be completed on Tuesday beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. ET. Live stats for the tournament will be available at www.golfstat.com.
