AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team is in eighth place after round one of the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate, carding an 18-over-par, 306. The Cats are 16 strokes off the leader Vanderbilt, who paces the 18-team field at 2-over-par. Just seven shots separate UK and third place Texas, who is 11-over.

Freshman Cylia Damerau played an impressive round for the Wildcats, firing a team-low 1-over-par, 73 and is tied for fifth overall. Damerau posted a team-best 13 pars on the afternoon and sank a birdie on each the front and back nine. She is just four strokes off the overall leader, who sits at 3-under.

Senior Betsie Johnson also turned in a solid round for UK, carding a 3-over-par, 75. Johnson recorded two birdies on the day and is tied for 16th overall.

Seniors Ashleigh Albrecht and Heather Lott both charted a 7-over-par, 79 and are tied for 43rd. Junior Liz Breed is tied for 63rd at 9-over, while freshman Sarah Harris, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 33rd at 6-over-par.
