Awendaw, S.C. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team wrapped up their first 36 holes on Monday of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, shooting 36-over-par for the day at the Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C. Play was suspended in the second round on Monday due to darkness but the Wildcats’ teed off early enough to get all 36 holes completed. Monday was originally switched to a 36-hole day after play was postponed on Sunday due to inclement weather in the area. The conclusion of round two will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday with the final round of 18 scheduled to follow with a shotgun start.
Junior Stephen Powers finished with the low scorecard on the afternoon for the Cats, shooting a combined 36-hole score of 4-over-par. The Naperville, Ill., native was 5-over in round one before, firing a 1-uner-par, 71 in the second. Powers had three birdies in the second round along with an eagle on the par-5 second hole. He is currently tied for 13th among all players in the tournament.
Senior Chase Parker was 9-over on Monday, shooting 3-over in the first round of 18 and 6-over in the latter. The Augusta, Ga., native tallied five birdies on the day and sits in a tie for 35th.
Sophomore Will Bishop is tied for 47th at 11-over-par, including a 4-over-par, 76 round two. Junior Ben Stow is tied for 52nd at 12-over, while Cody Martin is 75th at 26-over.
The tournament is slated to conclude on Tuesday with the final round to begin once the second round is completed. Live stats for the tournament will be available at www.golfstat.com.
