LEXINGTON, Ky. — After working five shutout innings over two relief outings last week, including a win at No. 9 Louisville, Kentucky freshman southpaw Logan Salow has been named Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday evening.

A native of Ashland, Ky., Salow worked in two games in relief during UK’s four-game road swing, tossing five shutout innings. He picked up a win at No. 9 Louisville in a 4-2 rivalry game on Tuesday, tossing 3.2 shutout frames as UK swept the series for the first time since 2011.

In a series-clinching win at Texas A&M on Saturday, Salow came on to fire 1.1 perfect innings in relief, striking out one on 17 pitches. He stranded a pair of runners in support of sophomore starter Dylan Dwyer, bringing his total of inherited runners to 19, allowing only three to score (15-percent).

On the year, Salow has a 2-1 record and a 1.42 ERA in 15 games, owning a save vs. No. 1 South Carolina, working 19 innings, allowing 14 hits – 13 singles – and six walks, striking out 20.  

This marks the fourth SEC weekly honor for the Wildcats in 2014, as junior A.J. Reed has been named SEC Player of the Week twice, with senior catcher Micheal Thomas also earning SEC Player of the Week accolades.

No. 17 Kentucky (26-14, 9-9 SEC) returns to action on Tuesday, hosting the NCAA-leading in runs scored, Tennessee Tech (32-10) at 6:30 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
