LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky volleyball team is used to playing in front of a national audience in recent years, but in 2014 it will be taken to unprecedented levels. A total of 27 matches, including every home contest and all of UK’s Southeastern Conference road matches, will be broadcast nationwide to the 90 million-plus subscribers of the SEC Network.

In total, 27 of the Wildcats’ 31 matches can be seen by a nationwide audience in 2014 on the SEC Network +, the network’s digital platform. Those 27 matches, available to all SEC Network subscribers on SECNetwork.com or on WatchESPN and the WatchESPN app, will coincide with eight previously-announced contests that will air live on the SEC Network and ESPNU.

“This is a historic time not only for our program but for the sport of volleyball,” UK head coach Craig Skinner said. “To be able to broadcast every home match and every road SEC match live on many different platforms nationwide is extremely exciting. We’re looking forward to reaching all of our fans this season.”

The Wildcats will make their SEC Network + debut in their season-opener, Aug. 29 vs. Wichita State as part of the Bluegrass Battle. UK’s contests the following day vs. Butler and Virginia Tech will also air on the digital network.

Eight of Kentucky’s 12 non-conference contests will be broadcast on the SEC Network +, with the lone exceptions being the Wildcats’ matches away from home. When the SEC schedule begins on Sept. 24, every home and road match for the remainder of the season can be seen live, nationwide.

UK will play in front of an SEC Network audience first on Oct. 5 at home vs. Texas A&M and again a week later vs. Auburn in Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 12. Kentucky’s first road contest on the SEC Network comes Oct. 26 at Texas A&M. The Wildcats also host Missouri on Nov. 9, Florida on Nov. 16 and travel to Mississippi State on Nov. 23, all broadcast on the SEC Network.

Kentucky travels to LSU on Sept. 24 and hosts border-rival Tennessee on Oct. 29, and both contests will air on ESPNU.

More information about the SEC Network can be found at SECNetwork.com, including a complete schedule and channel-finder.

The Wildcats are coming off a school-record ninth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and finished third in the conference in 2013. UK garnered 129 points in the 2014 Preseason Coaches Poll, while Florida was voted to win the league with 144 points. Missouri was third with 114 points and LSU fourth with 105 points.

Kentucky opens the 2014 season Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m. ET vs. Wichita State as part of the four-team Bluegrass Battle in Memorial Coliseum. News, notes and features on the Wildcats throughout their preseason practices can be found on Countdown to 2014 UK Volleyball.
