LEXINGTON, Ky. — Sophomore outfielder Dorian Hairston belted an opposite-field home run and sophomore infielder Connor Heady ripped a three-run homer, highlighting a six-inning Kentucky baseball fall scrimmage, on a gorgeous Wednesday night at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
The two teams split into a three-team format for the six-inning scrimmage, with Zack Brown, Dylan Dwyer, Taylor Martin, Blake Oyler, Austin Perry and Logan Salow each pitching.
A product of Lexington’s Tates Creek High School, Hairston ripped a solo, opposite-field homer to open the scoring, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, a double and a steal. Heady, a sophomore and former USA National Team U-17 member, belted a three-run homer in his third at bat, adding a bunt single in a 3-for-5 game, with a stolen base.
Freshman first baseman Evan White, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed hitter, went 3-for-4 with a walk and three RBI, ripping a triple off the top of the wall in centerfield. Freshman infielder Riley Mahan finished 2-for-5 with a triple of the right-centerfield wall, adding a RBI single.
Catcher Zach Arnold finished 2-for-3, with sophomore outfielder Storm Wilson ripping a double and Marcus Carson collecting a single.
UK will scrimmage again on Friday at 2 p.m., Saturday at 11:45 p.m. and Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Cliff Hagan Stadium. The schedule is subject to change.
Available parking for Friday and Sunday will be in Parking Structure #7 for $2.00/hr, maximum of $16.00 per visit. On Saturday, due to the football game, Parking Structure #7 is only available to football permits. Non-permitted, free parking options are in Structure’s #2, #3 & #6. Parking Structure #2 is located next to WT Young Library and is about a five-minute walk to the Cliff.
