LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky volleyball team has added McKenzie Watson to its 2015 freshman class, head coach Craig Skinner announced Tuesday.
Watson is a libero from Louisville and attends Assumption High School. The alma mater of UK senior Jackie Napper, Watson and Assumption were crowned state champions in 2013.
“McKenzie will be a fantastic addition to our program,” Skinner said. “She’s a tough, gritty competitor. McKenzie is just scratching the surface for her abilities at the libero position, since she has only been playing it for two years. She definitely fits the mold of a Kentucky Wildcat and we are excited to have her.”
Watson is coming off an impressive senior season, where she earned District All-Tournament Team and 7th-Region All-Tournament Team honors. Watson was named an AAU All-American in 2012 and helped her club team to a national title in 2010 and a third-place finish at Nationals in 2011 and 2012.
