LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team opens the 2015 season Tuesday at Hawai’i. The Wildcats and Rainbow Wahine will square off at 8 p.m. ET at the UH Tennis Complex in Honolulu, Hawai’i.
The Wildcats enter the 2015 season ranked 29th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women’s Team Rankings of the top 75 teams.
“We are excited for our season-opener against Hawai’i,” UK head coach Carlos Drada said. “Our team is working with a heightened level of discipline and energy, and I am confident that we will have a great match tomorrow to get the season going.”
In addition to UK’s No. 29 team ranking, Kentucky is represented twice in the individual rankings. Nadia Ravita and Aldila Sutjiadi are 19th in the doubles rankings, while Sutjiadi is 125th in singles.
UK returns home to host its first home contests of the year on Jan. 18 vs. the College of Charleston and Belmont. The first match vs. College of Charleston is set for 10 a.m. at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex. The Wildcats and Belmont will compete at 4 p.m. ET.
Drada and the Wildcats are coming off an impressive 2013-14 campaign that saw Kentucky make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2009. UK advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s second round and three Wildcats competed at the NCAA Individual Championships, including Ravita. Drada was named the Wilson/ITA Ohio Valley Region Coach of the Year, while assistant coach Kevin Calhoun earned Ohio Valley Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors.
