UK Women's Tennis Opens Home Slate Sunday with Doubleheader

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team competes at home for the first time in 2015 when it hosts College of Charleston and Belmont on Sunday at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.

UK and Charleston square off at 10 a.m. ET, while the Wildcats and Belmont will meet in the second match of the doubleheader at 4 p.m. Live results from Lexington can be found on UKathletics.com and on Twitter at @UKWomensTennis.

The Wildcats entered the 2015 season ranked 29th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women’s Team Rankings of the top 75 teams. Kentucky is represented twice in the individual rankings. Nadia Ravita and Aldila Sutjiadi are 19th in the doubles rankings, while Sutjiadi is 125th in singles.

Kentucky opened the season with a 4-3 loss at Hawaii on Tuesday. Sophomore Taylor Lederman led UK with a win in both doubles and singles. Junior Kirsten Lewis also notched a singles victory.

College of Charleston opened the 2015 season with a 6-1 loss at No. 60 Marshall Saturday. Belmont’s season lidlifter will be Sunday against the Wildcats.

UK is back on the road next weekend, when the Wildcats face Rice on Jan. 24 at 3 p.m. ET in Evanston, Ill. Kentucky will play either Northwestern or Arizona State on Sunday.

Head coach Carlos Drada and the Wildcats are coming off an impressive 2013-14 campaign that saw Kentucky make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2009. UK advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s second round and three Wildcats competed at the NCAA Individual Championships, including Ravita. Drada was named the Wilson/ITA Ohio Valley Region Coach of the Year, while assistant coach Kevin Calhoun earned Ohio Valley Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors.
