LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 6 Kentucky rifle team earned a solid road result at No. 17 Ole Miss by a margin of 4688-4580 on Saturday at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center.

Kentucky’s score of 4688 was a season high, bettering the team’s previous high score by two points. UK scored 4686 in the season opener vs. Akron on Oct. 11, 2014.

The score was a sign of encouragement for the highly-ranked Wildcats that the work the team has put in in the weeks since its last outing – in November in Alaska – is beginning to pay off.

With the win, Kentucky improved to 8-1 this season. The Wildcats are 4-0 in Great American Rifle Conference competition.

Jonathan Pinkel and Connor Davis led the Wildcats in smallbore with scores of 585. Heather Kirby posted a 594 in air rifle.

The Wildcats will look to improve even more on Sunday when they travel to face another conference opponent in No. 9 Memphis.

Sunday’s match will begin at 7 a.m. ET at Rangemaster in Memphis, Tennessee.
