Day Two Results | Live Scoring

ORLANDO, Fla. – Knocking off the first-day rust acquired during a nearly a four-month layoff, the Kentucky women’s golf team rebounded on day two of the UCF Challenge with a season-best-tying 284 to move into eighth place at the 18-team event in Orlando, Fla.

Fueled by four players who shot one-under par, UK climbed four spots on Monday with a four-under-par day. The Wildcats sit at two-over par (578) overall, 11 shots removed from the top five.

No. 17 Virginia vaulted into the lead on the second day of competition, pacing the field with a 19-under-par 557. No. 14 Vanderbilt (17-under 559), Tulane (16-under 560), No. 21 UCF (12-under 564) and Iowa State (nine-under 567) round out the top five.

UK’s 284 tied its lowest round of the year, matching its first-day total at the Stanford Intercollegiate.

“We had a solid day on the course today,” head coach Golda Johansson Borst  said. “The team played hard and we did a good job of providing ourselves with a lot of opportunities. We still need to work on finishing strong but it was good to see the girls respond with an under-par-round after yesterday’s round.”

All five Wildcats in the team competition shot even or one-under par in Monday’s charge back.

Junior Cylia Damerau, who finished fourth in last year’s tournament, bounced back from a rocky Sunday with a strong one-under-par (71) performance. Starting on the back nine, Damerau birdied three holes on her first nine and didn’t record a bogey until her final three holes.

Damerau’s one-under score Monday tied her season-low 18-hole round of the year. She posted her lowest career round as a Wildcat last year in this tournament and currently sits in a tie for 49th place with a three-over 147.

With four birdies on the day, freshman Haley Mills followed her one-under round Sunday with another one on Monday for her fifth below-par round of the season. The sophomore is in a tie for 20th place at two-under par (142) and is the leader of five Wildcats in the top 50 of individual play.

Freshman Isabelle Johansson closed her second round with four birdies over the last six holes to card a one-under 71. She’s tied for 32nd place at one-over par (145) through 36 holes.

Junior Sarah Harris and sophomore Ale Walker aren’t far behind in 42nd place. They each sit at two-over par (146) after Walker fired a one-under 71 Monday and Harris shot an even 72. Harris’ 36-hole total is her best of the season so far.

Freshman Grace Rose, playing as an individual, also carded a career-best even-par 70 Monday and is seven-over par (171) for the tournament.

Play will resume Tuesday at Eagle Creek Golf Club for the final day of competition at 9:16 a.m. Fans can continue to follow along with live scoring here.
