LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky swimmers Nick Caruso and Tori Orcutt have been named to the 2022 Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Community Service Team for their exemplary commitment to serving the Lexington community.

The SEC sponsors community service teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The community service team looks to highlight a student-athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Caruso logged several hours of community service during his first semester at Kentucky, serving at God’s Pantry and Tri for Sight. The freshman’s community service projects have included unloading and stocking canned food, preparing and delivering meals, and assisting with cleanup and breakdown after a triathlon.

The Gainesville, Florida native has impressed in his rookie season in the blue and white. He finished 10th in the 1650 free and 13th in the 500 free at the SEC Championships to now rank third and fifth, respectively, in those events in program history. His 1000 split in the mile is also the sixth fastest time in the record book. He picked up the first league honor of his career on Feb. 1 after being tabbed the SEC Male Co-Freshman of the Week.

Orcutt has contributed a remarkable 119 hours of community service so far during the 2021-22 academic year. Organizations she has volunteered with are the Salvation Army, Southland Christian Church, Christmas Miracles Project, Amachi, God’s Pantry, Kentucky Children’s Hospital, ACE Elementary School, Southland Children’s Ministry, the Veterans Administration and the Ronald McDonald House.

Some of the sophomore’s many community service projects have included serving as a mentor, leading youth activities, packaging and delivering food, collecting and donating school supplies, and creating holiday celebrations for families in need.

Also a leader in the classroom, Orcutt owns a 4.0 GPA as a psychology major and was named to the 2021 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. The Fort Walton Beach, Florida native won the Community Service Award at the 2021 CATSPY Awards, UK Athletics’ annual award banquet. She was also part of the Kentucky team that won its first-ever SEC Championship title in 2021.
