No. 6 Kentucky Heads to Old Dominion

by Connor Link

NORFOLK, Va. – No. 6 Kentucky is set to hit the road for the fifth time this season, flying approximately 600 miles eastward to the coast of Virginia for a Conference USA tilt at Old Dominion on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.

The Wildcats (7-0-3, 1-0-3 C-USA) and Monarchs (2-6-1, 0-3-1 C-USA) will battle live on CUSA.tv.

Kentucky enters Friday undefeated through the season’s first 10 matches for just the second time in school history. The 2018 Wildcats started 9-0-1 before falling on the road in their next contest but would not lose again until the program’s first appearance in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship.

Kentucky most recently played to its third scoreless draw of the season in a matchup with then-No. 20 FIU last Sunday. The Cats followed each of their previous offensive shutouts with three-goal outputs in winning efforts the very next game.

Overall, Kentucky is 2-0-2 on the road this season.

Old Dominion enters Friday on the heels of four straight losses, with all but one coming by deficits of at least two goals. The Monarchs’ lone win at home was a 1-0 decision over Loyola (Md.) on Sept. 3.

The last two meetings between Kentucky and Old Dominion have required at least one overtime period, with the Wildcats scoring the golden goal both at home last spring and in Norfolk in 2019.
