LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky track and field teams will face their first true test of the outdoor season this weekend at the Florida Relays.

The afternoon sessions on Friday and Saturday will be broadcast on SEC Network+.

The lone event of Thursday’s action will be the men’s hammer throw at 5 p.m. featuring Nikolas Huffman David Cline and Logan Bryer.

A select group of Wildcats will also compete at the Bellarmine Invitational, which begins on Friday and continues in earnest on Saturday.

Events to watch this weekend include the 400m hurdles debut of Kendra Harrison and 2015 outdoor 200m dash debut of Dezerea Bryant.

Both the men’s and women’s track and field teams have been ranked in the top 25 to begin the outdoor season.

The men’s and women’s team are both ranked in the preseason top-25 for the first time ever.

The women’s team is ranked No. 5 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Computer Rankings. The men are ranked No. 22.

The women’s team’s preseason ranking (No. 5) tied last outdoor season’s school record.

The men’s team earned the second best preseason ranking in its history. The Wildcats were ranked preseason No. 6 in 2009, which was the second year of the rankings.

The UK 2015 women’s team is led by defending NCAA Silver Medalists Harrison and Sha’Keela Saunders.

Saunders claimed the long jump silver last season, and went on to get silver indoors earlier this month. Harrison claimed silver in the 400-meter hurdles last year, and earned the 60m hurdles NCAA Title earlier this month.

The Kentucky men’s team is led by Raymond Dykstra the defending NCAA Javelin Silver Medalist, and Keffri Neal, defending NCAA Silver Medalist at 800m.

Dominique Booker began the outdoor season two weeks ago with a 200m time of 23.43, which leads the SEC.

Jasmine Mitchell is the SEC leader with a 400m PR of 53.59 recorded two weeks ago.

Robert Sandlin ranks fifth in the SEC in the 1,500m as he ran 3:49.26 during his UK debut two weeks ago.

Zack Beavin is the SEC leader at 5k having run 14:44.51 last weekend.

Dykstra leads the SEC in the javelin having thrown 251’1″/76.83 two weeks ago.
