BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Freshman Tyler `Chip’ McDaniel became the second Kentucky men’s golf player to earn All-Southeastern Conference Freshman team honors, the league office announced on Thursday.
McDaniel joins former Wildcat Chase Parker in the history books. Parker was tabbed to the team in 2010. The team was first formulated during the 2007-08 season.
McDaniel led the Wildcats this season with a season stroke average of 72. He finished in the top 20 in six of 10 tournaments and posted two top-10 finishes. Furthermore, he was the first Wildcat to earn a tournament win when he captured the individual title at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational to conclude fall action in October.
The Manchester, Ky., native carded 17 par or better rounds, including a team-low 66 during his first collegiate season. In 30 total rounds this season, he finished above par by just four strokes for the season.

The 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships selections will be announced live via the Golf Channel Monday, May 4 during Morning Drive. Additionally, the show will be streamed live on the Golf Channel website and posted afterwards on the NCAA website at www.ncaa.com.
