LEXINGTON, Ky. – Postseason accolades continue to come in after a record-setting season for the University of Kentucky women’s swimming and diving team as Danielle Galyer and Abby Myers were named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District® At-Large Team.

Myers earned Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive season. The senior, a two-time All-American in 2015, is majoring in exercise science had has a 3.99 GPA. Galyer, the SEC’s swimming Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is a four-time All-American and won her first SEC title in 2015. The sophomore is majoring in psychology and has a 4.00 GPA.

The Academic All-District® Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their collective athletic and academic accomplishments.

“I am really proud of both Abby and Danielle,” UK head coach Lars Jorgensen said. “Both are the true definition of what it means to be a student-athlete at Kentucky. They are fantastic athletes, dedicated students and great representatives of our program and what being a Wildcat is all about.”

Galyer and Myers are two of 11 honorees on the Division I team in District 2 and just two of eight women’s swimmers from the SEC to be named to an Academic All-District team. Additionally, Kentucky is one of four SEC schools to earn more than one Academic All-District At-Large Team honoree.

A four-time All-American in 2015, Galyer placed in top 15 in every race at the NCAA Championships, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 200 backstroke. She won her first-career SEC title in the 200 backstroke and finished fourth in the 100 backstroke. In 2014-15, she set five program-record times.

The 2015 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Galyer has served as SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) President, since 2014. A native of Greenville, S.C., she has been named to Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in each of first three semesters and to SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2014 and ’15.

Myers was a two-time All-American in 2015 and a three-time All-American in her career. In her senior season, she posted times in five events that rank in top 10 in team history, including contributing to two school-record relay times.

She leads the team in community service hours and is a valuable leader in and out of the pool. The Cranberry Township, Pa., native is a two-time SEC Community Service Team member and has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll all four years.

The 2015 Capital One Academic All-District ® Women’s At-Large Teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America and recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The Academic All-District ® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
